The relationship between cell density of Phaedactylum tricornutum and bio-accu-mulation and excretion of zinc-65 in the algae

Abstract:
The effects of different cell densities of Phaedactvlum tricornutum on bio-accumulation and excretion of 65Zn in the algae have been studied.The experimental results show that concentration of 65Zn in low density group of the algae from sea water is greater than that in high density group.Concentration factors of three groups are above 104, and the C. F. of the lowest density-group is the greatest, 4.4×104. The mechanism of accumulating 65Zn by unicellular algae is discussed.
