THE PRESENCE OF PARAMYOSIN-LIKE PROTEIN IN SEA URCHIN UNFERTILIZED EGG

Paramyosin-like protein has been extracted and purified from ethanol powder of the maturing ovarian egg of sea urchin Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus (A. Agassiz), and the paracrystals of the muscle also obtained. The antibody of paramyosin protein of the lantern muscle of sea urchin exhibits the immuno-purifitation bands in the crude solution extracted from the unfertilized egg of sea urchin Temnopleurus tereumaticus (Leske). This crude solution has the same mobility on SDS-acrylamide gels electrophoresis as muscle paramyosin.
