Analysis of landfill gas transport in a uniform MSW layer by using increment-dimensional precise integration

Abstract:
Transient analyses of one-dimensional landfill gas transport in a uniform municipal solid waste (MSW) layer were carried out by using the method of increment-dimensional precise integration. Firstly, the governing equation for one dimensional landfill gas transport in a covered waste layer was discretized, and a finite difference state equation was derived. Secondly, the recurrence formula was established to determine the landfill gas pressure at any time by means of increment-dimensional precise integration. The computational results show that the increment-dimensional precise integration solution is consistent with the correction-forecast solution and the effect of the time step on the accuracy of the solution is insignificant.
