Spatial-temporal changes of forest landscape types in the eastern and western counties of Qinling Mountain during the last 30 years
|
Abstract:
Based on eight remote sensing images (MSS in 1978, TM in 1990, ETM in 2001 and TM in 2006 of Shangnan County in the eastern Qinling Mountains and of Lueyang County in the western area), spatial-temporal changes of the forest landscape types were collected and analyzed with the support of 3S Technology. The results showed that broad forest and shrub are the two main landscape types in Shangnan county, covering 57.63% and 18.51% of the area, respectively. In Lueyang county, the dominant landscape types are broad forest, coniferous forest and shrub, which make up 39.74%, 17.69% and 17.20% of the area, respectively. During the last 30 years, the trends and range of the forest landscape changes are different for the two counties, and the higher value was found in Shangnan County. The landscape separation degree and fragmentation index in Shangnan County are also higher than those in Lueyang County, which indicates that more human-made disturbances have occurred in the forest ecosystem in Shangnan County. The differences in population, the level of industrialization and agricultural development and local governmental policies for the two counties lead to the differences in forest landscape types.
