Study on the optimal flocculant-producing culture conditions of Proteus Mirabilis TJ-1
|
Abstract:
A new kind of high flocculant-producing strain TJ-1 was obtained from activated sludge. It was identified as Proteus mirabilis by analysis of 16S rDNA similarity. This is the first time to identify Proteus mirabilis strain is able to produce microbial flocculant. The flocculant-producing cultivation conditions were studied and the culture media which optimized production of bioflocculant by strain TJ-1 were:glucose 10 g,peptone 1 g,MgSO4 0.3 g,KH2PO4 2 g,and K2HPO4 5 g in 1 L H2O at pH 7.The flocculation test results showed that the flocculating activity towards a kaolin suspension reached 92% when the bioflocculant was produced at the optimal culture conditions.
