Health risk assessment of organic pollutants in typical township drinking water sources of Dongjiang River Basin
|
Abstract:
In order to characterize the distribution and risk level of organic pollutants, the OCPs, OPs, PAHs, PCBs, PAEs and VOCs in 45 typical township drinking water sources from 9 towns of Dongjiang River Basin were measured. Health risk assessments were conducted according to different types of drinking water sources through the environmental health risk assessment model recommended by U.S.EPA. The results indicated that the carcinogenic risk of organic pollutants in this study area is relatively high, with the risks for the adult and children reached 1.17×10-5·a-1 and 2.19×10-5·a-1 respectively. In comparison, all the non-carcinogenic risk levels are in the acceptable ranges. The order of carcinogenic health risk descended as follows: River > Reservoir > Mountain spring > Underground water. The sources of health risk in this area were mainly from BHC, dichloromethane, chloroprene, DBP, DEHP and PAHs, which should be in strict control and management.
