Uncertainty modeling and analysis of river water quality including coupling of groundwater recharge and sediment release
|
Abstract:
Based on the fuzziness, imprecision and randomness of the stream-groundwater environment system, a trapezoidal fuzzy number was adopted to describe and denote parameters of hydrology, water quality and hydrogeology. On this basis, a novel one-dimensional fuzzy water quality model which takes into account the coupling effects of groundwater recharge and sediment release was proposed by fuzzifying the input parameters in a deterministic water quality model. To further reflect the impact degrees of the two main factors above on the decay of river water quality, five possible scenarios, taking into consideration the impact of lateral groundwater recharge or sediment release, were explored intensively. Water quality modeling for each scenario was conducted, and simulation results were analyzed and compared with each other. The study results indicate that the newly established water quality model with trapezoidal fuzzy parameters proved to be effective in water quality modeling with coupling of groundwater recharge and sediment release for groundwater-dominated or seriously polluted rivers.
