Abstract:

To measure chlorophyll contents in the Three Gorges Reservoir,water was collected from the central backwater zones at 139 m of the tributaries include Daning,Xiaojiang,Tangxi and Meixi Rivers in the Three Gorges Reservoir.The concentration of Chlorophyll-a(Chla) was measured by acetone extraction spectrophotometry and Aquafluor active algae cell analysis after it was cultured in the laboratory.According to regression analysis comparing the extraction value(y) and the active value(x),the obtained regression equation was y=4.15x 2.48.The result from T-test showed that the linearity of the extraction value(y) and the active value(x) was significant.A good agreement between the simulated value of Chla and the extraction value was observed,with a relative error of 7%.The simulated value of Chla can thus be used to appraise the eutrophication degree of water in the Three Gorges Reservoir.
