Progress of in-situ biological technologies for polluted river remediation
|
Abstract:
With rapid industrialization, urbanization and aggravation of non-point source pollution, river pollution has become a serious environmental problem in China. Among numerous remediation technologies, in-situ biological technology has attracted increasing attention for river remediation because it is economical, effective and sustainable. This paper reviews, in a comprehensive manner, the characteristics, applications and recent research progress of in-situ biological technologies and correlative auxiliary technologies commonly applied for river remediation with an emphasis on the biological contact oxidation process. It is expected to provide timely and useful information for in-situ remediation of polluted rivers in China.
