Application of homogeneous surface diffusion model (HSDM) to the removal of typical odor compounds in water by powdered activated carbon
|
Abstract:
Because of the short contact time,it is important to determine the adsorption kinetics of powdered activated carbon(PAC) on applying PAC in waterworks. In this study, the application of homogeneous surface diffusion model(HSDM) to the prediction of removal kinetics of MIB and geosmin was introduced. It was found that the kinetic processes under different PAC doses could be predicted with HSDM through only one set of kinetic experiment. It is possible to predict the dosage of PAC with HSDM,if the concentration of the target compounds, the contact time of PAC in waterworks, and the treatment target are determined.
