Local experiments for Fully Coupled Activated Sludge Model No.3 (FCASM3) validation were carried out in the Deqing Shishan WWTP with an AAO process. Traditional water quality indexes and water characterization of Deqing Shishan WWTP were performed there. The submicroscopic mechanistic model (FCASM3) of biological nutrient removal was validated with the results of local experiments. The results of dynamic calibration and validation of FCASM3 indicated that FCASM3 could submicroscopically and accurately simulate the AAO continuous flow process, and the dynamic simulation results for biological nutrient removal were identical with the measured results.
