Preparation of high surface area polar adsorbent resins for nitrobenzene adsorption
|
Abstract:
Vinyl benzylchloride- divinylbenzene copolymeric resin was chemically modified with phenol and hypercrosslinked adsorption resins were synthesized. The effect of phenol addition on adsorption of nitrobenzene is discussed. The thermodynamic characteristics of adsorption, the adsorption enthalpy, free energy and entropy for nitrobenzene adsorbed on two kinds of resins were calculated. The adsorption isotherms at 293 K, 303 K and 313 K indicated that the adsorption on the resins fit the Freundlich equation. Moreover, according to the relative adsorption capacity and isosteric adsorption enthalpy, nitrobenzene was physically adsorbed.
