Characteristics of mercury adsorption and desorption on humic acids
|
Abstract:
The amount and kinetics characteristics of mercury adsorption and desorption on two species of humic acids (FA and HA) and the effect of pH were studied by batch technique. Results showed that the adsorption capacity of mercury on FA is larger than on HA and adsorption strength of HA is larger than of FA. The desorption amount is in the sequence of FA Hg>HA Hg. Adsorption and desorption kinetics of mercury on humic acids fitted with Evolich equations the best. The speed of mercury adsorption on and desorption from FA is higher than that of HA. Humic acids able to adsorb more mercury with higher speed as medium pH increased and the adsorbed mercury is more difficult to desorb under the condition of pH<55.
