Study on the characteristic of spiral Up-flow reactor system and its performance on biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal
|
Abstract:
Tests on biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal by a spiral up-flow reactor (SUFR) system were described in this paper. Results of the 2-month continuous stable operation of the system showed that the removal of TN, TP and COD was kept over 86%, 96% and 94% respectively. In addition, the characteristic of the SUFR system was analysised (1) tests of flow pattern showed that the spiral-flow-character of the SUFR system make it be similar to plug-flow-reactor, and it is favorable to form grads distributing of the organism matter; (2) the mass transfer efficiency of the organism substrate and oxygen is higher in the SUFR system; (3) the diversity of microorganism population in the SUFR system is complex, the biocommunity formed in the SUFR system is more stable, and the stability of the SUFR system is higher.
