Sorption of phenanthrene by humic acids from different soils
|
Abstract:
Sorption of phenanthrene on seven soil samples was examined in batch sorption experiments. The element analysis and solid-state CP/MAS ()~(13)C_-NMR were used to obtain the structural and compositional information of the humic acids (HA) from the seven different soils. Then the aromaticity and aliphaticity of the HA was calculated. The result showed that the Freundlich sorptive coefficients (K_f) of different soils on phenanthrene were different, and the organic carbon-normalized partition coefficient (K_(oc)) of phenanthrene in different soils was also different. Furthermore, due to the difference of composition and structure of HA from different areas, they showed different sorption characteristic on hydrophobic organic pollutants. A positive correlation was observed between the aromaticity of the HA and the organic carbon-normalized partition coefficient (K_(oc)) of phenanthrene on the HA.
