ADSORPTION BEHAVIOR OF BUTYLTIN COMPOUNDS OF SUSPENDED PARTICULATE MATTER IN WATER BODY
|
Abstract:
This paper reported for first time the adsorption behavior of butyltin compounds on the suspended particulate matter (SPM) under a simulated estuary condition by using batch equilibrium method.SPM is prepared by surface sediments from the Haihe estuary. The results showed that both TBT and DBT,especially TBT,can be adsorbed significantly on SPM.The adsorption rate may be expressed by the emeric equation of Kuo and Lake. The adsorption rate is influenced greater by the concentrations of SPM,TOC,humic acid, and temperature than by the salinity.APM in water sample taken from the estuary has even higher adsorption ability to TBT and DBT.This shows that SPM is an important sink to TBT and DBT and, consequently, the removal of SPM can purify water body to some extent.
