Isolation and characterization of a salt-tolerant strain A1(Arthrobacter sp.A1) for the degradation of phenyl acetic acid
|
Abstract:
A strain of bacterium identified as \%Arthrobacter\% sp. A1 was isolated from activated sludge produced in the treatment of hapersaline waste water. This strain was able to grow in NaCl concentration of 0 1?mol/L-2 0?mol/L and phenyl acetic acid as the sole source of carbon and energy. The characteristics of this strain were studied, it survived the sudden salt concentration change and othes low valunce salts as KCl,MgCl 2,(NH 4) 2SO 4,Na 2SO 4 and CaCl 2, but no resistance to heavy metal salt. it was found that the intracellular accumulation of K +, free amino acid and QAC increased with the increasing of salinity.
