Verification of a kinetic model by pilot-scale test of aerobic thermophilic eomposting for vegetable waste with various biomass compositions
|
Abstract:
To develop an organic waste aerobic degradation model to control the composting process, a model of vegetable waste with various biomass compositions (a first order kinetic model with six factors Mt=M0e-kt) was compared with two-factor and three-factor models simplified by principal component analysis and by different biomass types. The three models were tested against the results of the first stage of composting in pilot-scale tests on solid waste compost from the Tai Lake region. The results show that the six factor model reflects the real rate of decomposition, with correlations between simulated and observed r>0.966, confidence degrees p<0.001. But the two simplified models did not match the actual results as well as the six factor model, perhaps because the effects of temperature on different types of biomass, and the parameters for the different factors are difficult to simplify.
