Performance of two kinds of Anammox reactors
|
Abstract:
Fixed-bed biofilm reactor and sequence batch reactor are two kinds of common bioreactors in wastewater treatment. The comparison of their performance showed that volumetric removal potential of total nitrogen in the sequence batch reactor was close to the biofilm reactor (1960mg?L-1?d-1). Both of them were far higher than the traditional nitrification and denitrification process. In the experiment, the start-up time for the sequence batch reactor was one third shorter than the biofilm reactor. And the biomass accumulation in the sequence batch reactor was higher than that in the biofilm reactor. However, the sequence batch reactor could tolerate smaller pulse of substrate concentration and hydraulic load than the biofilm reactor.
