Methodology of life cycle impact assessment for Chinese products

The methodological basis and procedures for determination of Chinese normalisation references and weighting factors in life cycle impact assessment for Chinese products is described. The normalisation reference is determined by the per capita environmental impact potential for the area in question in 1990 (EP(j)90). The weighting factor is determined as the normalisation reference (ER(j)90) divided by society's target contribution in the year 2000 based on Chinese reduction plans, ER(j)T2000. Two simple indicators, environmental impact load(EIL) and resource depletion index(RDI) are recommended.
