PHOTOSTABILITY OF ORGANOPHOSPHORUS PESTICIDES AND ITS RELATION WITH THEIR MOLECULAR STRUCTURE
|
Abstract:
The UV extinction coeffjcjents, the quantum yields and photolysis rates of 9 organophosphorus pesticides were studied, based on which, the relation between the photolysis rates and the molecular structures of the pesticides was Investigated. It was found that the photostabilities of the pesticides depend on the conjugating extent of the molecules. Increase in conjugating extent causes an increase in UV absorption and decreased quantum yield. Commonly used organophosphorus pesticides were classified into 6 groups with different photostabilities according to their molecular structure.
