MODIFICATION OF COMPETITIVE ADSORPTION EQUATION AND ITS APPLICATION
|
Abstract:
Competitive adsorption equation was modified based on the fact that the competitive adsorption reaction often observed can be described as:S(M1)m + M2 = SM2 + mM1. The modified competitive adsorption equation is as follows:x2 =k2Mc2/(1+k2c2+ k1c1m)The newly introduced parameter m is not only an indicator of adsorption mechanism but also a measure of surface character of the adsorbent. The result was satisfactory when applying this equation to describe the effect of pH on cobalt adsorption on soils. The relative error of calculated and measured data was below 10%.
