Study on microbe enrichment effect of assembled-medium and its removal to microcystins in Lake Taihu water source
|
Abstract:
Pilot study was conducted to improve water source quality in Lake Taihu by an assembled medium. By using Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR) quantificational analysis large numbers of Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus sp. with the ability of lysing algae were found to enrich on assembled medium, which indicated the assembled medium could have an effect on the enrichment of the indigenous lysing-algae bacteria in Lake Taihu. The analytical result of microbe's spatial distribution demonstrated that distributions of the total bacteria number, nitrobacteria and lysing-algae bacteria including Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus sp. were of distinct characteristic, which was closely related to microbe's function, growth microhabitat and substrate condition. For instance, lysing-algae bacteria were comparatively predominant in the middle section, outlet part and middle layer of the assembled medium. The removal rates of TMC, TMC-RR, TMC-LR, EMC and Chl-a after water passing through the assembled medium were averagely at 64.8%, 72.7%, 62.9%, 55.4%, and 30.1% respectively. It was obvious the assembled medium enriched microbe could improve source water quality of Meiliangwan Bay of Lake Taihu.
