STUDY ON DEGRADATION OF NAPHTHALENE AND BIOSYNTHESIS OF INDIGO BY BACILLUS BREUIS J74
|
Abstract:
The strain Bacillus breuis J74 makes use of naphthalene and its metabolic intermediate salicylate as sole carbon source. It is proved that the strain grows in the mineral salt medium with indole where indigo can be synthesized and this synthesizing capacity can be enhanced by inducing with substrate. The strain lost its plasmids by curing fails to produce indigo. This result shows that the plasmid is closely related to the degradation of naphthalene and the biosynthesis of indigo.
