A STUDY ON TNT DEGRADATION PRODUCTS FORMED IN TNT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PROCESS WITH METALLIC COUPLE
|
Abstract:
Based on the results of GC and HPLC analysis of TNT and its reduction products, 4-amino-2, 6-dinitrotoluene (4-A), 2,4-diamino-6-nitro-toluene(2,4-DA)and 2,4,6-triaminotoluene(2,4, 6-TA) and mass spectra of 4-A, 2,4-DA, 2,4,6-TA and the derivative of 2,4,6-TA with triflu-oroacetic anhydride, TNT degradation products formed during TNT wa-stewater treatment process with a Cu-Fe metallic couple reduction column were identified. 2-amino-4,6-dinitrotoluene (2-A), 4-A, 2,4-DA, 2, 6-diamino-4-nitrotoluene (2,6-DA), 2,4,6-TA were identified from the effluent. 2,4,6-TA was found to be the main component when TNT was partially reduced and the only component when TNT was fully reduced. The results of dynamic study indicated that the reduction of TNT by the reduction column was a high rate one-order reaction.
