DEFLUORINATION PERFORMANCE OF ACTIVATED ALUMINA/SILICA GEL AND ITS APPLICATION
|
Abstract:
A new activated adsorbent developed for fluoride removal was investigated. The adsorbent was characterized for its high selectivity for fluoride, great adsorption capacity, applicable in neutral media and much better adsorption effect at high temperature. The mechanism of removing fluoride is a typical chemiad-sorption, differ from that of activated alumina. It was showed from the results of column test at a geothermal well that the breakthrough volume is 2380 and approximately 4000BV at the criteria of 1.0 and 3.0 mgF/L in treated water respectively. The content of fluoride ions in the geothermal water is up to 8.0 mg/L. It was showed from the results of on-the-spot tests for drinking water that the adsorbent not only plays a part of removing fluoride, but also has notable effects of reducing turbidity, decolorizing, dealkalizing and removing iron ions for drinking water.
