Characteristics of polyaluminum chloride prepared by electrochemical process
|
Abstract:
Polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is prepared by electrolysis process. The products are characterized using 27Al NMR spectroscopy and transmission electron micrograph (TEM). 27Al NMR spectroscopy results show that high content of Al_ 13 polymer is formed in PAC prepared by electrolysis process. For the solution of total Al concentration (Al_T]) 2.0?mol L -1 with a basicity (B) = 2.2, the amount of Al_ 13 polymer account for 70.2 % of Al_T. Al_ 13 is relatively stable in PAC solution. The result of TEM shows that the particle speciation existing in PAC prepared by electrolysis process is equable distribution.
