A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON LEAF FALLINGINDUCED BY OZONE AND PREVENTION EFFECTSOF GROWTH SUBSTANCES
|
Abstract:
Harmful effects of ozone towards plants cover from induction of abscission of leaves, flowers and flower buds, etc. to injuring of plant leaves. At 3-4 days after fumigation with ozone, abscission reached the highest intensity, then gradually returned to normal situation. There is found a positive correlation between organ abscission and change of enzymatic activity of cellulase in the abscission zone. The cellulase activity can be reduced by means of sparging and daubing with growth substances, such as NAA, 2, 4-D, IAA, etc. before fumigation. Therefore, effect of ozone on organ abscission may be partially inhibited. In this way growth substances may be suggested and used as to protect against ozone injury towards plants.
