Abstract:

It has been expected that some problems in the preparation of flocculants may be overcome by the electrolysis method through controlling the electrical and solution conditions in the processes.However,we noted that the problem of polarization,including electrical,concentration difference and oxidizedfilm polarization,is the main factors affecting on the preparation efficiency.The polarization can produce extra potential,increase the electrolysis trough potential and decrease the current efficiency.By the theoretical and experimental analyses,we studied the property of polarization and the method for its minimization.It was found that the polarization could be minimized by selecting an electrolyte with suitable property and concentration and by controlling optimum electrode conditions.An electrolysis environment with low potential and high current density in PAC preparation was established,and a result of 80% Al b in the electrolysis products of PAC was got after the polarization was minimized.
