A STRAIN MODEL FOR CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT AND VISIBLE INJURY INDEX OF COTTON COTYLEDON DISC UNDER STRESS OF ACID RAIN

Abstract:
Correlations between the strength and duration of simulated acid rain and chlorophyll content and the visible injury index of cotton (Gossypium Hirsutum L, Wosa 28) cotyledon disc were studied.It was found that the correlation between the decrease in chlorophyll content, as well as the visible injury index,with pH value of the acid rain could be fitted closely using logistic curves. A relation of rectangular hyperbola was revealed between pH value at inflection point of the logistic equation and the exposure duration. A similar relation was observed between decrease percentage of apparent chlorophyll content of the disc and the exposure dlu ration under stress of acid rain of pH 2.5. A multidimensional model was developed based on above results.
