The equivalent vehicles approach was suggested to modify the Takagi traffic noise calculation formula, which is based on an exponentially distributed vehicles model for single line flow with the same acoustic power. The modified model can be used to predict Lx and Leq levels generated by a free multi-type traffic flow on a multi-lane road. The model was applied practically with satisfaction.
