STUDIES ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LIPID PEROXIDATION INDUCED BY GAS-PHASE OF CIGA-RETTE SMOKE AND RESPIRATORY BURST OF GRANULOCYTES
|
Abstract:
The effect of the peroxidized liposomes on the respiratory burst of rat peritoneal granulocytes (PRGs) was investigated by using ESR spin trapping technique with DMPO (5,5-dimethyl-pyrrolinelN-oxide). The results showed that the liposomes at a proper degree of lipid peroxidation was able to increase the production of superoxide anions by PRGs under the stimulation of PMA (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate). Liposomes with the concentration of 0.5mg/ml firstly gave that effect going up with the smoke bubbling time, and the maximum was reached after about 30 seconds of smoke bubbling, then going down gradually. The air-peroxidized liposomes had similar effectson the respiratory burst of PRGs.
