The GIS based map overlay method applied for comprehensive assessment of road environmental impact

With the advanced GIS functions and integrating the virtue of the map overlay method and the matrix method. the GIS based map overlay method is developed to analyze comprehensively the environment sensitivity around roads and the environment impact of roads.This method adapts to the comprehensive assessment of road environment impact, road planning and the optimal selection of road alignment. A case study is also presented for practice.
