Sorption of Oil in Simulated Oil Polluted Water by Modified Soils
|
Abstract:
Two kinds of quaternary ammonium compounds(QAC),hexadecylrrinethylammonium(HDTMA)and tetramethylammonium(TMA),were used to treat three kinds of natural soils(black soil, yellow brown soil and red soil)and sorption of oil in water by these soils was studied. Both natural soils and modified soils can sorb oil from water, but modified soils have better effect. The sorption effect of modified soils is following:1CEC HDTMA black soil>1CEC-HDTMA yellow brown soil>1CEC-HDTMA red soil>1CEC-TMA black soil>1CEC-TMA yellow brown soil>1CEC-TMA red soil.Sorption of oil by natural soils and HDTMA modified soils is via partition, the sorption isotherms can be expressed by Henry equation, and logKSOM is 2 69,logKHDTMA 3 35.Sorption mechanisms of TMA soils are complex, but the sorption isotherms can be expressed by Langmuir equation, the saturation sorption capacities are 1150mg/kg(TMA black soil),751 mg/kg(TMA yellow brown soil),172mg/kg(TMA red soil)respectively.
