ACUTE TOXITY TEST AND ANALYSIS ON ACCUMULATION OF CADMIUM(Cd2+)TO THE CLAM CYCLINA SINENSIS
|
Abstract:
To determine the acute toxicity Cd2+ to Cyclina sinensis, six concentrations of Cd2+ were tested. The 96-h half lethal concentration (LC50) and the safe concentration of Cd2+ for C. sinensis were 20.09mg/L and 0.201mg/L, respectively. In addition, we determined Cd2+ accumulation in C. sinensis at both the LC50 and the safe concentration. At the LC50 and 168h after the addition of Cd2+, various tissue contents of Cd2+ followed the order of muscle > visceral mass > gill; while at the safe concentration, the order was visceral mass > gill > muscle. The Cd2+ accumulating capacity of the visceral mass is much higher than that of the muscles. Our data may serve as a reference to evaluate Cd2+ distribution in C. sinensis farms and C. sinensis-based seafood products.
