Keeping Degradative Ability of Dominant Species with Self-immobilization Process
|
Abstract:
Dimethyl Phthalate(DMP)was used to cultivate dominant species and the species was introduced in a hybrid completely stirred tank reactor to treat synthetic wastewater with DMP and/or glucose as carbon source. The concentration of glucose was increased from 0 to 600mg/L,as that of DMP was decreased from 300 to 0mg/L,meanwhile NV ,COD kept about 1.0g/(L·d).During every stage, the degrading characteristics of the attached species and the suspended species for DMP was studied respectively. The results showed that more than 90% of COD was removed within whole period. After glucose was introduced, oxygen uptake rate of the suspended species to degrading DMP decreased quickly from 49.5 to 4.0mg/(g·h).While that of the attached species decreased gradually from 64.1 to 48.0mg/(g·h).Microscopic examination demostrated that filamentous bacteria appeared a lot in the suspended species, but they hardly appeared in the attached species. Thus self immobilization can effectively retain the ability of degrading refractory organic compound of dominant species.
