A Sanitary Survey on the Downtown Streams and Lakes of Beijing and Tianjin
京津市区部分河流及湖泊水质的卫生细菌学调查

A sanitary survey on the downtown streams and lakes of Beijing and Tianjin was made. As shown by the faecal coliforms values of the water samples from the streams and lakes, the water pollution resulted from human beings should be realized seriously by the autho rities concerned to the health of human beings. The Jing-Mi eanal was found to be comparatively clear,its faecal coliforms values were ranged from 102 to 104 cells/100ml. The Kun-Ming lake in the Summer Palace, lakes of the Yu-Yuan-Tan Park, the Violet Bamboo Park, the Beihai park and of the Yuan-Ming-Yuan Park were under this study. Among the five lakes investigated, the Kun-Ming Lake in the Summer Palace was the only one which had not been polluted as indicated by the faecal coliforms values. Others had faecal coliforms values ranged from 102 to 104cells/100ml.
