RADICAL POLYMERIZATION OF DIALKYL FUMARATES

Abstract:
Radical polymerization of 14 kinds of different dialkyl fumarates (DRFs) in the presence of AIBN and BPO were studied. It has been found that all DRFs monomers can undergo ho- mopolymerization in the presence of free radical initiators. The polymerization reactivities of DRFs increase in the following order: DCHF>DtBF>DiPF>MiPF, DEF, DsBF, DsAF> DEHF>DnHF>DiBF, DiAF, DnPF, DnBF, DnAF. This phenomenon was explained on the basis of analysis of DRFs monomers structures. Structures of DRFs polymers as well as their properties were characterized by means of IR, 1H-NMR etc..
