SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A NEW THERMOTROPIC LIQUID CRYSTALLINE POLYESTER-ETHER SULFONE

Abstract:
new aromatic polyester-ether sulfone TLCP was prepared from 4,4 bis(4-hydroxy phenoxy) diphenyl sulfone, terephthalic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid. Some factors which affected melting viscosity of the polymer, such as prepolymerization reaction medium and post-polymerization reaction, etc, were discussed.The liquid crystalline properties were characterized by DSC, polarizing microscope with a hot stage and X-ray diffractometer.
