RADIATION INDUCED EMULSION POLYMERIZATION OF VINYL ACETATE

Abstract:
Various factors which influence the reaction rate of radiation induced emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate and number of latex particles, molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and degree of branching of the polymer has been studied. The polymerization curves and the curves of Mn-X,Bn-X,Mn/Mw-X were calculated theoretically on the basis of Frii's model found for chemically induced emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate; and different expressions for K'd,Ktr-p and Ktr-m from those obtained by Friis were used. The theoretical curves agree well with those obtained from our experments.
