STUDIES ON THE INITIATION MECHANISM OF PEROXYDISULFATE/N, N,N'''',N''''-TETRAMETHYL- ETHYLENEDIAMINE SYSTEM IN VINYL POLYMERIZATION
|
Abstract:
The initiation mechanism of the title redox system was studied by spin trapping technique and ESR spectrum. The free radical (CH3). NCNCH2(CH3)NCH2 (I) is one of the initial free radicals responsible for the initiation of vinyl polymerization in addition to sulfate free radical (HO3SO). The result of amino end group analysis confirmed the fact that the free radical I did initiate vinyl polymerization. The effects of the diamine concentrations on the final percentage conversion of acrylamide polymerization and on the molecular weights of PAAM were also studied. The initiation mechanism was proposed finally.
