STUDIES ON THE KINETICS OF VINYL POLYMERIZATION INITIATED WITH PEROXYDISULFATE AND N, N, N'''', N''''- TETRAMETHYLETHYLENEDIAMINE SYSTEM
|
Abstract:
Aqueous solution polymerizations of vinyl monomers, such as acrylamide (AAM), acry-lonitrile (AN) and methyl methacrylate (MMA), initiated with peroxydisulfate and N, N, N', N'-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) system have been investigated in this paper. It was found that when the ratio of TMEDA] /peroxydisulfate] was in the range of 0.5-2, the polymerization rate Rp and the ultimate conversion were enhanced while the ultimate conversion decreased when the ratio was 5-50, and the molecular weight of polymer always decreased. The activation energy of polymerization and polymerization rate equation were determined.
