Abstract:

Five different non-ionic surfactants,BSA,Tween-20,Tween-80,PEG-4000 and PEG-6000,were evaluated for their ability to enhance simultaneous saccharification and fermentation(SSF) of wheat straw.The results indicated that all non-ionic surfactants tested improved the SSF of wheat straw,and Tween-20 was the most effective.Addition of Tween-20 decreased the enzyme loading while retaining the same ethanol concentration.The ethanol concentration of 18.7 g/L was achieved at a substrate concentration of 50 g/L at 37...
