Abstract:
1 INTRODUCTIONPentachlorophenol (C6Cl5OH, PCP) has been widely used as pesticide and wood preservative1]. The photooxidation of PCP in the presence of TiO2 proceeds via the following stoichiometry2]:2HOC6Cl5+7O24HCO2H+8CO2+10HCl.In homogeneous solution, photolysis of PCP has been shown to produce toxic by-products such as tetrachlorodioxins.
