Catalytic Efficiency of Vanadyl Compound in a Microbial Fuel Cell Constructed with Rhodoferax ferrireducens
|
Abstract:
A rechargeable microbial fuel cell(MFC) was constructed with Rhodoferax ferrireducens, and catalytic efficiency of anodic catalyst NaVO3 and cathodic catalyst K3VO(O2)2(OOC-COO)](KVC) were studied in the present work. The highest current output of the MFC was 0.581 mA,which was 0.272 mA higher than that of the control experiment, with the anodic catalysis with NaVO3 at the concentration of 4 mmol/L and the external resistance of 510-.KVC catalyst in the cathodic compartment also improved the performance of the MFC.The highest current of 0.949 mA could be achieved at the KVC concentration of 25 mmol/L.The current of the MFC was further enhanced to 1.06 mA whilst the NaVO3 and KVC catalysts were added to the anodic and cathodic compartments, respectively.
