Carrier-suppression Filter Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fiber
|
Abstract:
A novel carrier-suppression filter is designed based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in photonic crystal fiber. The filter make use of two circulators and photonic crystal fiber to form a ring cavity, which is lower the threshold of stimulated Brillouin scattering in fiber effectively. The effect of optical modulation depth and radio frequency (RF) gain by photonic crystal fiber carrier-suppression filter is analyzed in theory. In experiment, highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber with the length of 25 m is chosen as stimulated Brillouin scattering gain medium.RF gain of microwave signal is 5.38 dB when input optical carrier power is 70 mW.All results of experiment agree with the theory.
