Effective Fresnel Number and Focal Shift of Partially Coherent Beams Focused by Cylindrical Aberrated Lens

Abstract:
Based on the defined effective Fresnel number of focused beams,the focusing of partially coherent beams through cylindrical aberrated lens was studied,and the simple formula of relative focal shift was derived.It shows that the relative focal shift is inverse proportional to the square of effective Fresnel number.It is demonstrated that the effective Fresnel number is simple and valid to evaluate the relative focal shift of partially coherent beams focused by aberratted lens.A special case,that the effective Fresnel number turns out to be a pure imaginary number,was discussed,and it is indicated that the simple formula evaluating the relative focal shift is still valid in this case.
