Inhomogeneous Broadening Effect on the Propagation Characteristics of Ultrashort Laser Pulse
|
Abstract:
An accurate and effective numerical method is employed to study the propagation characteristics of ultra-short laser pulse in inhomogeneously broadened two-level medium. The results show that the pulse propagation can be modulated by the inhomogeneously broadened linewidth. While the inhomogeneously broadened linewidth exceeds a certain threshold level, the evolution of pulse area consists with the area theorem, and the pulse propagation maintains stability. While the inhomogeneously broadened linewidth becomes small, the evolution of pulse area becomes complex, and the pulse propagation becomes instability and has "tail" oscillation. The pulse propagation velocity is also modulated by the inhomogeneously broadened linewidth.
