Abstract:

Considering the influence of light-field distribution,transmission properties of nonsymmetrical one-dimensional photonic crystal with a nonlinear defect were investigated by using the transfer matrix method,and a new method of realizing all-optical logic gates was derived.Because light is greatly localized in the defect layer,nonlinearity of the photonic crystals was enhanced,based on which the influence of the interaction between light distribution and the refractive index of defect layer on transmission properties was analyzed.The results indicate that the stable state of transmission properties can be reached by proper design.All-optical XOR,AND gates were designed based on one-dimensional photonic crystals.
