A Novel Method to Realize Wider Passband Filter Based on Sampled FBGs Inscribed in PMF

Abstract:
A novel method to realize wider passband filter with the sampled fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) inscribed in polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) is proposed The characteristic of this new type of gratings is analyzed by coupled mode equations,and the reflection spectrum of the new type of gratings is dealt with by optimal apodization function The excellent wider passband filter is realized,meanwhile,passband of the filter is twice wider than sampled fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) on standard single mode fiber (SMF),and the higher Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) is obtained.
